City of Santa Fe Transit Center

Large Straw Bale Wall
Santa Fe, NM
1999

Project Overview

Spears Horn Architects provided landscape architecture for the City of Santa Fe transit center offices bus maintenance and storage facility. As a part of the site work, we designed a 7 1/2’ high and 535’ long straw bale wall to visually and acoustically separate the bus maintenance area from the office area and to provide security for the buses.

We’d like to claim that this is the longest straw bale wall ever built, but we don’t really know!
