Madrid Grandstand

Restoration
Madrid, NM
2011

NM Historic Preservation Division
2012 Heritage Preservation Award

Project Overview

We worked closely with Santa Fe County, the State of NM Office of Historic Preservation, representatives from the town of Madrid, CID and Santa Fe County Fire marshals to develop a plan to rebuild the crumbling historic Grandstand structure while maintaining the historic character of the original building.

Project Gallery

In 1929, coal miners from Madrid built the wood structure and bleachers using scrap and salvaged wood beams, columns, framing, and siding from the local coal mines.
